Hot chocolate bananas

One of my favourite quick desserts. This can be made with any type of chocolate and it's fun to experiment with different kinds, for example milk chocolate with hazelnuts is great as the nuts go very well with the banana, and those Kinder chocolates with the milky centres work great too as the milky part tastes so good when it's melted.

Ingredients:
Bananas (as many as required)
Chocolate, whatever type you like, broken up into thin pieces

Cooking:
1) Cut both ends off the bananas, the hard piece at one end and the long part that keeps it in a bunch at the other end.
2) With a knife, make a vertical cut from the top of the banana to the bottom, opening it up the centre as far down as the skin on the bottom side. Peel back the skin a little so it'll be easier to work with.
3) In the centre of the banana that you've opened up, put the pieces of chocolate inside. Try to make them thin enough that they don't come up over the top or it'll get really messy after it melts.
4) Press the banana together firmly and pull the skin back over the banana as much as it will cover it.
5) Roll the prepared bananas in tin foil, making sure that the part with the chocolate opening is facing up.
6) Put in a pre-heated oven at 200c for 10 minutes. These can also be done on the barbeque in a couple of minutes.
7) Leave them a few minutes to cool, peel back the skin of the bananas and eat it with a spoon.

It might not look very appetizing given how the bananas discolour when they're heated, but it tastes so good :)

  1. That looks horribly disgusting haha, but like I said, I'd probably eat anything if it was covered in chocolate... besides that squid thing haha ;)

  3. I thought about removing the skins to make it more photogenic, but then the chocolate would have run out the bottom and it'd look even more messy haha

Marina, maybe it's not fair, but I think if you choose to go so long without sweets you're going to find temptation everywhere even without my blog to help with that :)
